Amazon now refunds European shoppers without taking the item back. >> eBay revenue rises 14% to $3.2 billion. >> Sellers pause EU sales over packaging rules. >> Fino Payments Bank reported a net loss of 20.9 crore rupees for the September quarter. >> Retailers brace for inflation-hit holiday season. Good evening. It is the 29th of October 2026. Amazon has launched its FBA returnless resolutions program across Europe this week. Shoppers in the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, France, and Spain can now receive a refund without sending the item back. The program has been running on amazon.com for some time and is now available to sellers using Fulfillment by Amazon in those five marketplaces. Sellers who join can avoid return shipping, processing, and storage charges, which matters most on inexpensive goods. Participating merchants set their own maximum item for the no-return option, anywhere from 1 to 75 euros. They can apply it to their whole catalog or pick specific ASINs. Amazon assesses each return request from FBA sellers automatically. What it means, low-priced FBA sellers in these five markets can cut the cost of small refunds, but the price ceiling they choose decides how much they save against how often stock simply disappears. eBay reported third-quarter revenue of $3.2 billion, up 14% from a year earlier. Management used the earnings call to explain where the marketplace is putting its effort. The company is removing friction for professional sellers while courting collectors with AI tools and live-streamed auctions. eBay says the tool has cut listing time for casual sellers by roughly 1/3. The results were reported on Wednesday, the 28th of October. What it means, casual sellers listing occasional items stand to gain most from the shorter listing process, while professional should watch whether the friction reduction push changes fees or tools in coming quarters. The EU packaging and packaging waste regulation has applied since the 12th of August 2026, and some sellers, many of them in the United Kingdom, have paused their EU sales because they are unsure what is required. The regulation treats the manufacturer as not only the company that physically makes the packaging, but also the business that has packaging made. That means sellers need data on heavy metals in every part of their packaging, down to labels and tape. One former Amazon FBA seller described learning about Germany's packaging register, Lucid, only when Amazon asked for a registration number. The guidance for sellers is to build a clear plan and work through the requirements step by step, rather than withdraw from the market. What it means, UK and other non-EU sellers shipping into Europe need packaging composition data and register entries in place, and pausing sales avoids the paperwork only until they want the market back. >> Fino Payments Bank reported a net loss of 20.9 crore rupees for the September quarter. A year earlier, the bank had posted a net profit of 15.4 crore rupees. This is the second consecutive loss-making quarter for the company, following the operational disruptions it faced in February. The loss widened 52.3% from the 13.7 crore rupees lost in the previous quarter. Total income for the quarter fell 16.6% to 333.6 crore rupees from 400.1 crore rupees a year earlier. Though it rose 8.7% from 306.9 crore rupees in the June quarter. Other income, which includes fees and commissions from banking and payment services, dropped 23.8% year-on-year to 259.2 crore rupees. >> Target, Walmart, Kohl's, Best Buy, and Macy's are among store chains that have spent the past week announcing when their Black Friday and Cyber Monday promotions will run in 2026 and previewing their holiday plans, including new products and advertising campaigns. Much of the playbook repeats recent years with Cyber Week stretched by a day or two and early Black Friday offers from chains such as Lowe's and Best Buy starting before the end of October. What is different in 2026 is inflation and shaky consumer confidence. >> Cross-border payments are getting quicker, yet completing settlement locally still frustrates many firms, a Money 2020 panel heard. McKinsey's August report put last year's 2025 global cross-border flows at roughly $190 billion in revenue terms, about $290 billion of revenue for the industry. Amaro said three-quarters of Swift-enabled payments land at the beneficiary bank within 10 minutes, but local rules, operating hours, and other obstacles then delay settlement, whether the money moves by stablecoin, tokenized deposit, or traditional rail. >> Ahead of the holiday season, Amazon has given Alexa more than 100 new shopping capabilities, letting users manage subscriptions and lists, change delivery instructions, sort out payment problems, and ask about Prime subscriptions. Shoppers can have Alexa create and register lists, view what is on them, and add or edit items. They can also ask the assistant to alter subscription frequency, for instance, switching an item from monthly to every 3 months, change an address, or add drop-off details, and ask about Prime or Audible billing. >> Trent Limited intends to grow its fashion and food retail operations, go deeper into tier two and tier three cities, and build up its lifestyle brands, chairman Noel N Tata said, as he set out the strategy before leaving on November 11th, when Pavan Vaidya takes over. Trent's Q2 revenue for financial year 2027 rose 22% year-on-year to 5,873 crore rupees, and Zudio kept adding stores. >> Alibaba Cloud has opened its first region in the Netherlands, offering computing, storage, and database services. >> Alibaba's a map and Alibaba token hub have unveiled zero, a foundation model that teaches humanoid robots coordinated movement and manipulation by learning from human demonstrations. It draws on first-person video synced with body and hand motion, so robots can combine walking, posture changes, and two-handed work in longer tasks. >> Embedded payments stretch the security perimeter because risk can come in through software vendors tied to the payment flow, and faster payments leave less time to catch a bad transaction, reconcile an exception, or confirm that the party moving money is who it claims to be. In an interview, Doranjit Singh, senior vice president and technical fellow for corporate payments at WEX, said payment technology has targeted three long-standing demands: wider access to capital, faster money movement at lower cost, and stronger trust through security and compliance. >> With 6 days to go before Commerce United, the speakers and agenda have been announced, and tickets must be requested to attend. The half-day event on TikTok Shop and social commerce is hosted by Social United, an official TikTok Shop partner, at a Grade I listed townhouse in Westminster, Central London. Brands, creators, technology partners, and TikTok Shop specialists will all appear in one place with every brand vetted so conversations are worthwhile. The day has seven sessions, one rapid-fire round, and 2 hours of lunch and drinks for further discussion. >> That is all for this bulletin from e-commerce news bulletins. We publish fresh bulletins through the day. Thank you for watching and see you in the next one.
